ODIN Private Military Company
Origins
Founded in 2002 by ex US Navy SEAL David Arnold, ODIN PMC capitalised on the emerging Global War on Terror (GWOT) in Afghanistan and Iraq. They conducted numerous missions in support of coalition forces, targeting opioid harvesting and production operations in the region.
After initial success by ODIN, the US Department of Defence (DOD) quickly relied on ODIN as insurgency specialists, awarding contracts in Syria, Yemen and Libya.
Their reputation then transferred to other governments around the world, with contracts being awarded in the UAE, Colombia, Brazil and South Africa. ODIN also had a brief stint in Somalia, supporting the Ethiopian intervention in the Somali Civil War. It has also been rumoured that they had involvement in the attempted coup d’etat in Papua New Guinea, however this has not been confirmed.
ODIN personnel are mostly ex soldiers from western nations. They pull from a wide variety of nations such as the US, Canada, Australia, France, the Netherlands, Germany and more. This gives the ODIN forces a wide experience base, enabling troops to share tactics between each other and bring their unique experiences to the company.
ODIN’s operation in Laotia is its first official deployment to South East Asia. Most of its contracts have been awarded by the US DOD or by the United Nations to assist in the security of humanitarian aid and assets. Laotia is the first non-western aligned government to grant a contract to ODIN. While their role has more recently been in security and stability operations, the operation in Laotia will be a return to ODINs roots, attempting to destroy an insurgency.
What to Wear
ODIN PMC are classed as BLUFOR. They wear camouflaged military style clothing. As per the Mjolnir Gelsim Standard Operating Procedures:
“'Any camouflage pattern is allowed. It is recommended that teams wear matching or similar camo however this is not mandatory. Teams will be issued with the same colour tape for uniformity. Plain coloured load bearing equipment, belts, packs, hats etc. are permitted.”
What Kit to Bring
ODIN PMC are a well funded, well equiped Private Military Company with contractors from many different backgrounds. They have up-to-date, modern military equipment that is well maintained.
ODIN PMC are exclusively seen using modern plate carriers, packs and other load bearing equipment. It is usually a camouflage pattern matching their clothing however, flat coloured and non-matching camouflaged equipment has also been spotted in use.
It is common to see ODIN fighters possessing modern M4 platforms, modern AK platforms, Steyr, MCXs, M249s and other light support weapons. The different backgrounds of ODIN contractors inform their weapon choices, with Europeans opting towards the HK416 or bullpup style while the Americans and Canadians opt for the M4 style.
