The East Side Syndicate

Origins

While the origins of the East Side Syndicate (ESS) are disputed, the first known appearance of the group was in 1995 as a small street gang in southern Laotia known as the Yu-Tang gang. In the wake of the Asian Financial Crisis, the Yu-Tang began consolidating their power in Millmerran by exploiting the natural poppy growth and exporting it overseas.

With heroin use exploding internationally, rival gangs in the region saw an opportunity to seize control of the trade. They quickly seized control of the poppy fields and eliminated many Yu-Tang members, leading to the dissolution of the gang.

The remaining Yu-Tang members went to ground and slowly began planning their return. They used their remaining profits from their initial trade to head overseas and make connections, undertake military style training and recruit new members. By 2005, they had ditched their old identities and had formed the ESS.

With newly purchased weapons and equipment from Albania, the ESS began a violent takeover of the Millmerran region.

They indiscriminately targeted rival gang hideouts, processing facilities, farms and military bases, initiating one of the most brutal and bloody conflicts that South East Asia had ever seen.

Once they had consolidated their newfound power in the area, and with the local military either in their back pocket or dead, the ESS started utilising their new trading partners they had met overseas.

They began importing and processing huge amounts of poppies from Pakistan, building their reputation as producers of the highest quality heroin on the market. This is White Tiger.

White Tiger has been exported all around the world, from Thailand, China and South Korea all the way to the US.

With the fall of the Afghanistan government in 2021 and the extraction of US troops, the ESS used their immense wealth to purchase a large supply of US weapons and equipment from the Taliban. This was instrumental in their full regional takeover of Millmerran when the Laotian government dissolved. The ESS are now one of the best equipped insurgent forces the world has ever seen, with the training and experience to hold onto power for years to come.

What to Wear

The ESS are classed as REDFOR. They wear non-camouflaged military style clothing. As per the Mjolnir Gelsim Standard Operating Procedures:

β€œAny plain colour uniform or clothing is allowed. It is recommended that teams wear matching or similar colours however this is not mandatory. Teams will be issued with the same colour tape for uniformity. Camouflage load bearing equipment, belts, packs, hats etc. are permitted.”

What Kit to Bring

The ESS have just completely taken over the Milmerran region and have links to the Taliban and Albanian arms dealers. These links have provided them with modern military weapons and equipment that they have been putting to good use in the area.

The ESS are frequently seen using modern plate carriers, packs and other load bearing equipment. While it is usually in a flat colour matching their clothing, camouflaged equipment has been spotted in use. Legacy equipment such as webbing has also been spotted in use by ESS fighters.

It is common to see ESS fighters possessing modern M4 platforms, modern AK platforms, M249s and other light support weapons. In addition, there are still some Soviet era AKs and RPKs floating around from the orginal weapons purchase with the Albanians.
